ABOUT DEPARTMENT
The Department of Psychology at Sree Narayana Guru College in Coimbatore was established in 2017 to provide industry-aligned B.Sc (3 years), M.Sc Applied Psychology (2 years) and Ph.D programs that are designed to equip students with practical skills, ethical values, and employability through internships, expert-led seminars, and modern infrastructure. The curriculum focuses on hands-on learning, research projects for community development, and mental health camps to foster innovation and professional competence. In line with its vision to excel in psychology education, the department’s mission is to prepare students for global challenges through resilience training, cutting-edge research, and skill development. The Department of Psychology, Sree Narayana Guru College, Coimbatore, celebrated Self Care Day on 24.07.2025 at college premises. The theme of the program “Mental Reboot: Embrace Self Care”. The day highlights, encourages individuals to prioritize their health and wellbeing through conscious self -care practices.



- The Department of Psychology organized the Valedictory Ceremony and Guest Lecture on “Therapeutic Relationship” on 17.03.2025. Resource Person: Mrs. Subhiksha Sivananthan, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Royal Care Hospital, Coimbatore.
- The Department of Psychology in association with the Association of Interventional Psychologists (AIP) organized a workshop on “Behavior Modification” on 14.02.2025. Resource Person: Dr. Vedagiri Ganesan, Industrial psychologist, and Regional Chairman of Rotary India Literacy Mission.
- The Department of Psychology in association with Asian Institute of Psychodiagnostics and Behavioural Research, organized a workshop on “Data Analysis Using SPSS” on 13.02.2025. Resource Person: Dr. T Elangovan, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Psychology, Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore.
- The Department of Psychology celebrated “National Handwriting Day” on 23.01.2025 at the college campus. It’s an annual event dedicated to recognizing the importance of handwriting in personal expression and cognitive development.
- The Department of Psychology organized a celebration in observance of World Mental Health Day on 10.10.2024 at Sree Narayana Guru College campus . The global theme for 2024 was “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right” highlighting the importance of access to mental health services for all individuals.
- The Department of Psychology organized a seminar on “New Trends in Psychology” on 27.09.2024. Resource Person: Mr Thilak, Founder & CEO and Ms Ramya, Head – Operations, Hand4you Community, Coimbatore.
