ABOUT DEPARTMENT
- The Department of English, founded in 2011, is dedicated to cultivating an intellectually enriching environment that encourages students to engage in critical reading, effective writing, and creative thinking.
- The primary objective is to transform postgraduate and research students into intellectually adept individuals.
- The department continually enriches its academic offerings, addressing the literary interests of students while simultaneously enhancing their proficiency in the English language, thereby contributing to their employability.
- Guided by the motto “to seek, to know, to serve,” the Department aims to foster a deeper understanding of the world among its students.

The vision of the Department of English is to offer students adequate communication skills to prepare them for their professional needs in the globalized scenario prevalent today.

Association Inauguration – MUSE 2K25
The Department of English, Sree Narayana Guru College, organised the departmental inauguration function “MUSE 2K25” on 16.07.2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the college conference hall. Ms. Pon Hiniya D. Sylvia, Soft Skills Trainer, Psychologist, NLP Practitioner, and Career Counsellor, was the resource person and delivered a session on “The Power of Language.” The session covered the principles of effective communication and the advantages of mastering professional communication skills.



- The Department of English organized Valedictory Function and Guest Lecture on “Communication Skills Competencies for Professionals” on 10.03.2025. Resource Person: Dr. G. Hemalatha, Assistant Professor, Madanapalle Institute of Technology and Science, Andra Pradesh.
- Dr. D. Vijayaraghavan, Associate Professor of English, Mrs. C. Hema and Mr. A. Abhishek Assistant Professors of English, Sree Narayana Guru College published a book on the title “Young Waves I” on 13. 02. 2025.
- Dr. D. Vijayaraghavan, Associate Professor of English at Sree Narayana Guru College, published a book titled Post-Truth in George Orwell’s 1984 on 26.01.2025.
- The Department of English organized an invited talk on “Soft Skills for Security and Success” on 23. 01. 2025. Resource Person: Ms. Mini Pratap, Soft Skills Trainer, and Teacher’s Educator.
